PAT testing typically involves inspecting and testing electrical appliances that are connected to the mains via a plug. Here are some common items that require PAT testing:

Office Equipment

- Computers, monitors, and printers

- Photocopiers and scanners

- Phone chargers and extension leads

Kitchen Appliances

- Kettles, microwaves, and toasters

- Fridges and freezers

- Coffee machines and vending machines

Power Tools & Maintenance Equipment

- Drills, grinders, and sanders

- Vacuum cleaners and floor polishers

- Battery chargers for cordless tools

Household & Entertainment Devices

- Televisions and radios

- Lamps and heaters

- Hairdryers and straighteners

Fixed Appliances

- Integrated dishwashers and ovens

- Storage heaters and heated towel rails

While cordless devices (such as battery-powered tools) do not require PAT testing, their chargers do, as they connect to the mains. Additionally, low-voltage appliances (such as laptops) may need separate testing for their power adaptors.

At East Herts Safety Testing we test everything that may be plugged into the mains. For example, with voltages in USB cables increasing and the fact that they can be plugged into a charger which is connected the mains, we test them. The same applies to Laptops, since they are plugged directly into the mains, via their charger, we also test them. The list goes on, rest assured you will stay compliant by using East Herts Safety Testing.
