Portable Appliance Testing Procedures
Our Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) services are conducted in full compliance with the IET Code of Practice. Each of our technicians is highly skilled and qualified to ensure precise testing of all items and equipment made available on the scheduled appointment day.
Providing Relevant Information
Clients are requested to provide any available floor plans and fire risk assessments to our technicians upon their arrival at the site. A competent or designated responsible individual should hand over these documents and remain accessible at the start and end of the job. This allows our technicians to communicate any identified safety concerns or hazards observed during the testing process.

Ensuring Accessibility
Clients should ensure that all appliances, devices, or equipment are easily accessible for testing—this includes removing items from storage or clearing them from beneath desks. This preparation minimizes disruption and enhances efficiency. While our engineers are there strictly to perform inspections, they may assist in specific cases (e.g., helping elderly or physically impaired individuals). However, the Company will not be held responsible for any damages—direct or indirect—that could occur in such scenarios.

Testing Limitations for Difficult Items
Items requiring testing must be reachable by our technicians. Heavy, awkward, or hard-to-reach equipment may be visually inspected only. If items located at height need testing, they should be made accessible before our team arrives. As our technicians are not insured to use ladders provided by the client, this should be discussed ahead of time if needed.

Handling IT Equipment
To safeguard critical data and avoid disruptions, clients must ensure that all essential information or data is securely backed up before the testing begins. This is particularly important for main IT suites and server rooms. IT equipment must be shut down by the users themselves, as our technicians will not perform shutdowns or manage restarts after testing. Our battery-operated equipment is safe and will not harm IT systems. However, we cannot accept liability for any issues that arise with properly tested equipment during or after the process.

Charges for Downtime
An hourly rate of £30.00 per technician may apply for unproductive time caused by factors beyond our control—such as inaccessible rooms or extended delays. Submitting floor plans in advance can help streamline the process and minimise delays at the client’s site.

Reports and Certification
After receiving full payment, you will be emailed a completed PAT Testing Report/Certificate listing all tested appliances, their Pass/Fail statuses, and the next inspection date (valid for one year). Reports are delivered as PDF documents.

Cancellation Policy
For cancellations or rescheduling, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice (Monday to Friday) is required. Appointments canceled within 48 hours will incur a £40.00 fee; cancellations made within 24 hours or on-site will be charged £75.00. Exceptions may be granted, in our discretion, as a gesture of goodwill.

Payment Terms
Invoices are due within seven days of job completion. Payment methods include cash or BACS transfer. Clients requiring extended payment terms should contact our main office to arrange this in advance. Late payments will incur additional charges aligned with government regulations. Admin fees range from £30 for balances under £1,000 to £60 for amounts exceeding £1,000.
